Measuring A Horse For A Rug
As most horses don't measure exactly to the rug size intervals it is better to get a rug that is bigger rather than one that is smaller. For example if a horse measures 6'1" or 6'2" is it better to get a 6'3" rug than a 6'0" rug. Some manufacturers specify rug sizes in just inches rather than feet and inches although still size the rugs according to the 3 inch intervals. Horse rugs are sized at 3 inch intervals (ie 4'3", 4'6", 4'9", etc) and to measure a horse to ascertain the size of rug needed the horse is measured from the centre of the breast, along the side of the horse to the point of the buttock.
