The Gelderland horse (also known as the Gelderlander) is a heavy warmblood horse developed from breeding native mares with other European breeds that was used as a carriage horse and farm horse. Together with the Groninger horse, the Gelderland horse provided the foundation for the breeding of the Dutch Warmblood.
